2013 Family Camp – 15-17 November at Narrabeen Sports Academy

Haemophilia Foundation 2012 annual Family Camp was an absolute hoot, with around 130 people attending over the course of the weekend. We had new families join in the fun and activities for the first time, who all said they will definitely be back again in 2013. Everyone, particularly the kids, really enjoyed the great activities on offer. There was the giant slide, go karts, archery, canoeing,  paddle boarding, swimming, and craft activities. We had special appearances from The Reptile Man who brought along all sorts of slithering and sliding creatures for the kids (big and little) to look at and touch. The teenagers enjoyed action-packed X Box gaming, and had the opportunity to learn about Haemophilia Foundation Australia’s teen website Factored In. 9-11 November 2012 – Narrabeen Sport and Recreation Centre – campers group photo

Saturday night dinner was a crazy mask event for the adults,who all enjoyed a wonderful meal with a glass or two of wine, followed by a fun-packed trivia night, while the kids were entertained by Mr Bamboozle – magician extraordinaire and awesome balloon artist. We ran a silent auction with a record number of items to bid on, and there was some fierce bidding competition.

The weekend away at HFNSW family camp is the perfect opportunity for you to meet other parents and children affected by Haemophilia, von Willebrand and other bleeding disorders. We always have demonstrations on injecting, information and education sessions, and hospital Treatment Centre staff on hand for any particular questions of a medical nature you might have. At this recent camp we also had Leonie Mudge the Haemophilia Social Worker from RPA Hospital in Sydney, who was available for any of our campers who might have needed to have a more private chat, or perhaps find out some information relating to support for patients with bleeding disorders. There is also plenty of time for relaxing, and having a chat; catching up with people you might not have seen since the last camp, and meeting new families and making new friends.

Camp 2013 promises to be even more fantastic!

This year we have booked Narrabeen Academy of Sport for the weekend commencing Friday 15th November, through to Sunday 17th November, SO MAKE A NOTE IN YOUR DIARY NOW TO KEEP THAT WEEKEND FREE! We hope to have the ropes course this year – by popular request, and soccer on the oval, among many other super-fun things to do.

Numbers are limited for the family camp so make sure you don’t miss out  this November!

All Committee meetings on a Tuesday evening, and commence at 6.30 at our Foundation office, Suite 18, 255 The Broadway, Glebe.

There is 3 hour free parking at the Broadway Mall located directly behind HFNSW offices, and plenty of public transport very close by.
